The Atlanta Event Bar Planning Guide

Everything you need to plan a bar in metro Atlanta, plus a shopping calculator you can print.

1. Who buys the alcohol? You do.

Le'Pour ATL is a dry-hire bartending service. Under Georgia law we cannot sell alcohol. You (the host) purchase and own the alcohol; we provide certified staff, equipment, mixers, and service. You buy at retail (no markup), and unopened bottles stay with you. Many Atlanta stores accept returns of unopened bottles; ask before you buy.

2. How many bartenders?

3. Alcohol shopping calculator

Assumes 2 drinks in the first hour and 1 per hour after, per drinking guest. A 750ml bottle pours about 16 cocktails (1.5 oz) or 5 glasses of wine. Buy ice at 1.5 lb per guest.

4. What the venue needs

  • A flat 10 ft × 6 ft area for the bar
  • Water access and a standard power outlet
  • Your venue’s COI requirements (we send ours within 24 hours)
  • Ask whether your venue requires host liquor liability: a one-day event policy of at least $1M naming us as additional insured, due 14 days out.

5. Permits in metro Atlanta

Private events that are free to guests don’t need a special-event permit. Bartender pouring permits are local and per person in Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Decatur, Johns Creek, Milton, and Cobb and Douglas counties. Our bartenders hold them wherever they’re required. Ticketed events or events where alcohol is sold need an extra permit; talk to us first.
